Cinema Makeup School graduate Katy Souza took her talent to the big screen with the premiere of Carbabes, an independent comedy starring Ben Savage, at the Hollywood Film Festival last month. She was Key Makeup Artist on indie film Sunny and Share Love You (post-production), a rockumentary starring Chris Parnell (Saturday Night Live), Mink Stole (Polyester, Hairspray), and Stephen Root (Office Space). Katy freelances for local model/actor clients and has contributed to numerous fashion shows and live performances.

CMS Master program graduate Liz Mendoza celebrates the release of Halloween Night, a sure-to-be cult classic in which she worked as Key Makeup Artist.

Cinema Makeup School graduate Shelley Stull has been working with local Dallas television networks Splashmedia, Traders Television, and TSTN, as well as on national programs such as NBC’s Dateline and CNBC’s Squawk Box hosted by Carl Quintanilla. She has also worked with top modeling agencies in Dallas, Texas where she resides, and her work can be seen on the cover of magazines Empowering Women, Entrepreneur, Work From Home, Supermodels Unlimited, and Fierce.

CMS graduate Magali Wharton has been keeping busy doing editorial makeup work for independent magazines Jolie (spread), The Connection, IB Concept, RIX Magazine (April cover). She also does various promos for BET (Black Entertainment Television) channel.

Former Cinema Makeup School student Josh Holland worked at Captive Audience Productions with esteemed makeup guru Greg Cannom (The Howling, Lost Boys) on the latest Brad Pitt movie, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button directed by David Fincher. He also worked for Optic Nerve on the television show Heroes.

Stephanie Jennings, recent Professional Makeup course graduate brought her talent to Memphis where she worked with a local opera house and theater group and is frequently booking wedding gigs. She spent October working at a Haunted House where we’re sure she inspired a few screams!

Instructor and body painting legend, Nelly Recchia, paid homage to her native country France with an elaborate painted corset on the lead dancer of a piece entitled, Marie Antoinette. Coinciding with the release of the Sophia Coppola film about the very fashionable Queen of France, this mesmerizing piece was the crowd favorite at the King Cabaret Club in Hollywood. Liz Mendoza and Katy Souza assisted Nelly in preparing the dancers.

Nelly also led a seminar on body painting at the CMS open house, where a local Korean television channel filmed the process of creating art on a human canvas. Instructor Leonard Engelman gave a demonstration of creating an old age character makeup at the open house. Guests were amazed at the transformation!

Mr. Engelman, a union member of many years, also gave an informative lecture last month about the benefits of joining the Local 706 Union.

The school is open for tours Monday through Friday 9am to 4pm. We welcome local and international students and are looking forward to a visit from an India-based agency this month.
