CMS Legends of Makeup Scholarship Rules


Cinema Makeup School is pleased to present The Legends of Makeup Scholarship (“LOM”). This annual award, presented by Cinema Makeup School, celebrates the career and craft of legendary makeup artists. This Scholarship has been introduced to identify those newcomers to makeup who are dedicated and motivated by passion of their craft to spearhead the next vanguard of professional makeup artists.

The LOM Scholarship will consist of a $10,000 scholarship award to be applied towards any Cinema Makeup School program at its Los Angeles campus, and will be awarded to one person who is looking to further his or her education in the area of makeup artistry. The selected recipient of the LOM Scholarship will be officially notified and confirmed by electronic mail. The winner will be announced through the online resources of Cinema Makeup School.

To Apply: Scholarship applications may be submitted by anyone with a high school diploma or its equivalent, and who will be eligible to enroll at the time of their first class. The finalists and winner will be personally selected by the scholarship sponsor, Ve Neill.

Entrants should prepare:

  • Up to eight (8) images showing various makeup applications,. The makeup applications can be in any style (beauty, character, special makeup FX, etc).
  • A personal statement about your life, ambitions, and any adversity faced in your life. This is your opportunity to tell us what makes you special and why you want to attend Cinema Makeup School.

Complete applications must be received no later than December 1, 2019, at 12 PM PST (Pacific Standard Time), and may be received electronically via the linked form, or by regular mail to Cinema Makeup School, 3780 Wilshire Blvd., Suite 202, Los Angeles, CA 90010. Cinema Makeup School is not responsible for applications not received.

Recipient will be chosen based upon a combination of the following criteria: financial hardship, triumph over adversity and artistic ability. The winner will be chosen based upon a qualitative review of submitted materials. All decisions are final.

Note: The awardee is a representative of Cinema Makeup School. If the awardee’s conduct, whether public or private, violates the school’s codes of conduct or tarnishes the school’s image, the scholarship award will be revoked.

CMS reserves the right to disqualify entries that do not comply with the scholarship rules at any time. The Legends of Makeup Scholarship is open to all U.S. and international applicants. Rules, restrictions, prize details, and guidelines are subject to change without notice. The decision of the judges shall be final. By entering, each applicant agrees to Cinema Makeup School’s Terms & Conditions and grants Cinema Makeup School the right to use their names, likenesses and any and all images from their entry for publicity and marketing purposes.Each Scholarship winner must meet the enrollment pre-requisites for Cinema Makeup School. Enrollment requirements: each individual must be over the age of 17 by the time they begin classes, and must have proof of high school completion or its equivalent. The Scholarship is open to U.S. citizens, U.S. residents and to international students who must meet the requirement of qualification for an M-1 student visa under the regulations of the U.S. Department of State. The winner must be able to provide confirmation of requirements within seven (7) days of the announcement as the winner, or the Scholarship will go to the runner-up. The Scholarship can be used only at the Los Angeles campus. The recipient must start classes within one year of being selected as the Legends of Makeup Scholarship Winner. There is no cash award or cash value for unused funds. Scholarship awards are non-transferable. Only the winners are guaranteed notification. By accepting the Scholarship, each winner grants Cinema Makeup School and the right to use their names and likenesses for publicity purposes related to the Scholarship and School.
